It has been another tumultuous year for people all over the world. One of the many things I love about my country is the resilience of our people...hope, strength, tenacity. Still it isn't always easy, is it? Thornton Wilder gave us a great quotation about keeping on keeping on, "We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures."
And while we're at it, we can rise up and give to those around us. Theodore Roosevelt said, "Let us remember that, as much has been given us, much will be expected from us, and that true homage comes from the heart as well as from the lips, and shows itself in deeds."
Our thanks to Edie Kirkbride and Karen Barnett for creating the images below to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. So let's go Over the River and Through the Woods...
Over the river and thru the woods,
To have a first-rate play;
Oh, hear the bell ring,"Ting-a-ling-ling!"
Hurrah for Thanksgiving Day-ay!
Over the river and thru the woods
Trot fast my dapple gray!
Trot fast my dapple gray!
Spring over the ground,
Like a hunting hound!
Like a hunting hound!
For this is Thanksgiving Day.
Over the river and through the woods
Now Grandmother's cap I spy
Hooray for the fun
Is the pudding done?
Hooray for the pumpkin pie!
Now Grandmother's cap I spy
Hooray for the fun
Is the pudding done?
Hooray for the pumpkin pie!
And while we gather as families and friends, bake and eat, watch football games, and all the rest that goes along with "turkey day" let's take a moment to put our hand on our heart and thank God for our country and our troops.
God Bless America and Our Troops
at Thanksgiving and all year long!
